When entering college, many students begin choosing and buying ALL of their meals for the first time; either in the college cafeterias or in grocery stores. The “freshman fifth-teen” is a well known concept in the US, where student often gain weight in their first year of school, however this does not end in the first year. Many students develop the unhealthy eating habits that will lead them to an adulthood of obesity. For our project we want to aid these first time shoppers, showing them the tools they need to make healthy choices. As we are choosing to focus on college students, we decided to form our health education approach using tools they are acquiring in their classrooms, mainly the skills of Critical Thinking and Reading.
