Every year, the BCFN Foundation organises the International Forum on Food and Nutrition, an open event for discussion and debate on issues of nutrition and sustainability.

Experts, international opinion makers and young researchers come together every year for an interdisciplinary event created in order to share findings, scientific data and best practices aimed at building a food model which protects people’s health and the wellbeing of the planet.

From the analysis of the results of research promoted by the Foundation and the contributions of highly regarded speakers, every edition of the Forum has been able to set out practical and effective solutions to urgent issues such as hunger and obesity, the correct use of natural resources, food waste, sustainable diets, the environmental impact of agricultural production and climate change.

The 7th edition of the International Forum on Food and Nutrition was marked by significant collaborations. Cooperation with the Economist Intelligence Unit enabled the creation of the Food Sustainability Index, an analysis of 25 countries with a focus on the main Sustainable Development Goals linked to food. The partnership between the BCFN Foundation and the Thomson Reuters Foundation led to the launching of the Food Sustainability Media Award, while the collaboration with the Milan Center for Food Law and Policy and the Politecnico di Milano was instrumental in developing the Right To Food MAP platform.

During the sixth edition, one year before Expo Milano 2015, the BCFN Foundation presented the Milan Protocol, a document which invites institutions, members of the private sector and the general public to take action and build a new, sustainable food system on a global level

The fifth edition covered the topic of natural resource management, with particular attention to water, supply chain sustainability, food waste and the value of food while looking towards the future, to study new systems for sustainable development
