A path to the Forum, encouraging the participation of young people.

BCFN Empowering Youth

Supporting young people for sustainable development

The BCFN Foundation believes in the role young people have to play in the creation of new, sustainable development. Young research fellows and students are an incredibly important resource if we are to tackle the current inadequacies of today’s food systems, actively contributing to change.

The BCFN Foundation promotes dialogue and the exchange of ideas among young people from around the world as a way to identify concrete solutions capable of solving food paradoxes, winning the battle for sustainable development and reducing food waste and childhood obesity. Through better dietary education, using the Mediterranean diet as a departure point to update the double food and environmental pyramid, we can lay the foundations for the new wave of food security and improved access to food.

Through its collaborative network, the Foundation will promote various activities, such as contests, workshops and online events reserved for young change-makers and their ideas.

This path will culminate in the next Forum which will take place in Milan, December 4-5, 2017, during which presentations from young people will play a key role..

BCFN Youth Webinars

BCFN Youth Webinars

The BCFN Foundation organises a series of webinars to engage a network of youths interested in better understanding the issues related to food sustainability, which will be discussed during the 8th International Forum on Food and Nutrition.

The reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, the importance of policies for the sustainability of food systems, the role of young people in sustainable development: these are just a few of these topics which will be explored by youths for youths. The webinars thus become an occasion for discussion and debate, a chance to put the spotlight on shared paths and concrete ideas about extremely topical issues, but also an exclusive opportunity for exchange with international experts who will offer valuable added insight to the conversation with their feedback and experience.

Millenials Lab

In collaboration with the University of Siena and the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, the BCFN Foundation presents Millennials Lab 2017: a workshop to highlight the role of millennials in finding concrete solutions capable of making food systems more sustainable.

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), sustainable agriculture, the environmental impact of local agricultural systems on the planet, and the relationship between food and land are just a few of the issues which young people will delve into during their work sessions. The Lab is an exciting opportunity to shine the spotlight on the importance of younger generations in exploring new paths towards a paradigm shift in the agrifood sector.

The results of the work will be presented during the Festival, to be held in October 2017.
