Regional Minister for the environment and sustainable development, wildlife management and computer-fish-hunting of the Province of Genoa (2000-2010). Regional Minister for the environment and sustainable development, the activities of civil defense, hunting and inland fishing, economy and other lifestyle-aware of the Liguria Region (2010-2014).

From 1 July 2014 MEP in the European Parliament, with the delegation of Vice President of the Fisheries Committee and substitute member of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.
