Founded in 2002, the Jeremy Coller Foundation is the strategic grant-making organization of private equity entrepreneur Jeremy Coller.

Animal Welfare and Human Health are JCF's two key programme areas. Our work is underpinned by the belief that a growing human population with finite resources requires a progressive system of agriculture. JCF seeks to highlight and challenge the unsustainable practices of factory farming for the planet and for human health, and support the development of a sustainable food system.

JCF believes that the investment community has a vital role to play in creating a sustainable and humane food system, and that there is a strong business case for considering ESG issues as part of investment decision-making in relation to animal factory farming. In recent years the issue has begun to rise up the agenda of the investment community, as concerns over animal welfare converge with emerging evidence on the impact on public health, the environment, sustainability and food safety.

We believe that the Milan Protocol is an important document in bringing together all of the major issues connected to the food system, and hope that the action outlined in the protocol will promote a move towards a more sustainable global food system.
