The Milan Protocol aims to achieve the same goals of the Parma Municipality on subjects like food waste, sustainable agriculture, healthy lifestyles. Our goal is to create a model of sustainable production and consumption in order to respect the planet and the well-being of its inhabitants. Therefore we are pleased to support this Protocol as it pursues such important and ambitious objectives.

The Municipality of Parma has as its main mission of providing services to the community, support for development, regulation of urban assessment and actions in order to promote the growth of civilization and culture of the community. The Municipality is the "director" of development and life of the city.

The city has about 190,000 inhabitants, of which about 10% are immigrant population.

Parma is known worldwide for its artistic heritage of great significance, including the Romanesque Cathedral and the Baptistery designed by Antelami, making it a major tourist destination, it is also a city of music , with the Royal Theatre, home of the Verdi Festival.

In addition, the city is popular mainly because it is regarded as a major food valley, thanks to the excellent gastronomic traditions, products famous all over the world, such as Parmigiano - Reggiano and Parma ham, and the presence in the area of food manufacturing companies such as Barilla and Parmalat.

Parma's vocation as food producer and manufacturer is confirmed by the presence of Cibus (one of the major European trade fairs in the sector) and the establishment in town of the European Food Agency (EFSA).
