Our food systems have been exploited for decades, biodiversity is in decline, and both natural and man-made disasters are destroying the livelihoods of millions. To combat such challenges require large-scale changes, but grassroots initiatives, such as a Youth Food Policy Committee nurture social responsibility and empowers youth to take on challenges of a declining environmental system. The YFPC provides a platform for students across school districts to develop and implement a unique food policy, exploring issues around food security, health, and social implications of food. While the traditional school system place minimal emphasis on curriculum providing understanding and practical experience on subjects impacting our world in real-time, the YFPC encourage students to take charge of their education. More importantly, we acknowledge young people as today and tomorrow's resilient change-shifters, risk-takers, and policy-makers.
