Nutrition and children: sustainable model for the future generation
.
Economic growth, globalization and the contamination between different cultural models are leading to changes in lifestyle and eating habits all over the world. This phenomenon is producing a number of consequences including an increase in overweight and obesity amongst the population, above all in children.
This issue is urgent and must be tackled effectively: according to the BCFN, the healthy development and growth of the new generations can only be achieved with an integrated approach, involving all the main public and private players in the promotion of guidelines on the relationship between nutrition, health and well-being during childhood and adolescence.
In particular the role of three players acting in synergy is a key factor: families, schools and pediatricians and other health sector professionals. Alongside these three main players, in recent years we have seen that the agrifood industry has an important role to play in actively contributing to the creation of proposals and offers that are coherent with the recommendations regarding correct nutritional practices and lifestyles in children and adolescents, and in actively promoting their adoption by means of adequate and correct communication.
