October 15th is Blog Action Day, the day chosen by the Internet community to mobilize and heighten public awareness with respect to environmental concerns. This year, thousands of blogs and opinion websites devote space to the problem of climate change: there are thousands of “postings” and contributions that will feed a discussion as vast and inclusive as possible.

 

Blog Action Day was announced for the first time in summer 2007 with the intention of coordinating the work of bloggers all over the world on themes linked to the environment. The idea is a simple one, but highly innovative: one day, one theme, thousands of voices. In 2008 the contributions of 20,000 authors reached more than 14 million readers, via the web, informing them and stimulating their curiosity, inviting them to join the cause. In 2009 the choice was made to focus on global warming, and on how it affects the ecosystem, as a direct cause of floods and famine, and indirectly causing hunger in the world.
