It is the series of phases that a food product must go through from the field (or animal farm) to the table and includes each individual step from farming (animal farming) transportation, preservation, transformation, to storage and packaging up and the table of the final consumer. The chain of production may be shorter or longer and more or less complex depending on the number of steps made by the food product before reaching the final consumer.
